Jennifer Armstrong

jenniferarmstrongAfter spending 20 years in the corporate world, Jennifer Armstrong decided to follow her passion of helping people live their lives to their full potential by becoming a Certified Life Coach.

After losing 45 pounds without counting calories or points, she is ready to share the way to lose weight for the last time:  by listening to your body.  As a Healthy Life Mind-Body Coach and Am I Hungry Licensed Facilitator, she has the specialized training and personal experience to back up her claim that it is preferable to use your body as the main tool to lose weight.  Peace with your body and weight is not accomplished by growing your list of food rules but by growing your connection with your body.  Last by not least, Jennifer unknowingly lessened the effects of IBS by using the Healthy Life Mind-Body Tools to such a degree that she sometimes forgets she suffered from this mind-body syndrome for over 20 years.  If you are ready to shrink your body while growing your life, Jennifer is the coach for you.

Ann Burrish

Ann BurrishAnn Burrish is a Certified Martha Beck Coach and Brooke Castillo Self Coaching 101 Coach and Weight Coach.  She has most recently trained with Abigail Steidley and is an Endorsed Healthy Life Mind/Body Coach.

As a life-long teacher, student, and curious person, Ann thought she entered coach training with Martha Beck because she wanted to learn how to both give and get advice more effectively. What she found was a new way of being. Coaching is not about giving advice; it is helping clients (and herself) discover their own answers by developing compassionate awareness of thoughts, deciding whether they are true and useful, and realizing that there is more than one truth to a situation.

Although impressed by the power of thought work, she began to sense that  she and her clients could gain deeper clarity and peace by tapping into the messages of their emotions and physical sensations in the body.

The result was connecting with Abigail as coach and mentor.

Clients who are struggling with weight and body issues, anxiety, or “thoughts gone wild” related to any aspect of their physical  or emotional being hold special interest and empathy.  Her favorite question is “why?”  She loves to laugh and considers it as important to life as sunlight. She is skilled at sorting out what is preventing change and helping clients implement ways to get there.

Ann has maintained a 40 pound weight loss for 20 years by intuitively practicing the same feeling, thinking, and eating tools which she now uses in coaching.  The anxiety, both low level and debilitating, which was once an ongoing presence in her life, is now managed – and usually absent – thanks to mind/body understanding and coaching.  Rumination and “thoughts gone wild” have similarly dissipated.  Having walked the walk through the dark , she would love to help you light your own path to freedom.

Ann loves mysteries of all kinds and coaching because it is a way to help clients be the detectives solving the puzzles of their own painful stories. Her website is www.annburrish.com. Contact Ann at ann@thehealthylifecoach.com with questions, comments, or recommendations for mystery novels, especially those with humor.

Jen Greer

jengreerFor a long time, my  life looked good from the outside. I got good grades and attended Yale, qualified for Olympic trials in competitive swimming, and achieved professional success, including an overseas assignment in my late 20s. But on the inside I was miserable. I was consistently anxious, experienced consistent bouts of depression, and eventually began experiencing frequent back and hip pain. Though I didn’t know it at the time, I was disconnected from my body and my internal guidance system. It’s been a journey, and my life has transformed and continues to transform since this time.

With the support of many gifted healers and teachers, I’ve learned to listen to my inner wisdom and to trust the guidance of my body. These have been the cornerstones of my healing. I love supporting other women in healing the pain that comes from disconnection and creating fabulous and fulfilling lives. I am a mind body coach who is HealthyLife endorsed and certified in Gestalt, Self-Coaching 101, and Martha Beck coaching. Diane Hunter

Diane HunterAs a mind-body coach, I combine my personal experience and coaching tools to help you break through the internal barriers that trap you in a state pain.

Your pain plays the important role of teacher. When you connect with the part of yourself that holds the answers you will tune into the wisdom of your body and get past the thoughts that create stress and chaos in your life.  With this discovery comes freedom.  I promise you, there is another way of being.

My Story.

I first discovered the power of the mind-body connection in 1997 while suffering with chronic, debilitating back pain for over a year.  I read Dr. Sarno’s book, “Healing Back Pain” and within 24 hours of completing it my back pain disappeared.  Within a week I resumed running.  I had completely given up hope I would run again and there I was, out on the dirt trail.  I knew I was onto something big.

This moment launched my journey to reconnect mind, body and spirit to heal my pain.  I had also suffered with pelvic pain and recurrent bladder infections since the age of 24.  My pain symptoms intensified after the birth of my first son in 2002.  At the age of three, he received the diagnosis of autism and I receive the diagnosis of Interstitial Cystitis and Pelvic Floor Dysfunction. With the guidance of extraordinary teachers, including my son, I found my path through the pain to the other side to a life of freedom.

During my personal healing journey I became a Certified Martha Beck Coach and Certified Equus Coach with Koelle Simpson and I’m delighted to be an Endorsed Healthy Life Mind/Body Coach with Abigail Steidley.  Her tools have changed my life.  I earned a degree in Computer Science and raising a child with autism stimulated my personal interest in neuroscience.

Anu Gupta, PhD

I come to coaching from a background in academic science.  I’ve always thought of myself as intellectually smart.  After practicing the mind-body tools, I know my body is even more smart and talented.  I’ve been someone that despite many outward successes has always wanted to be better.  I’ve been hard on myself, thinking I should be better and should have achieved more by now.  I thought I hadn’t achieved my potential.  Being hard on myself didn’t make me better at anything, it just made me feel bad.   It also made me sick with endocrine and autoimmune disorders.

Despite piles of journals and trying to change my demanding thoughts, only connecting with my body put those many demands I made of myself to rest.  I have confidence now.  I really understand what self love means.  I see myself as more physically beautiful and attractive.  I’m a more effective and available mom.  Connecting with myself has given me greater health, fitness, and mental peace.  Ironically, it is now that I’m becoming better at many things, it is now that I’m achieving my potential.  I use my science training and my mental strengths every day as I become an observer and explorer of my body and mind.  This is the hardest and most rewarding science project I’ve ever done, studying and knowing myself.

I’m totally excited about teaching others to leave their self demands behind and achieve their real potential.  The mind-body process is like a fun and often challenging discovery and learning process.  You will let yourself shine, because that is the safest way to be.

Laura Tirello

Laura Tirello is a Certified Martha Beck Coach and an Endorsed Healthy Life Mind Body Coach.

My Story:

I was a perfectionist who tried really hard, pressured myself, and did everything with a lot of force. Looking back I had a lot of fear but would not let it show. I just kept doing things and moving forward thinking it would make me feel better.

I picked my first job out of pure fear. I was afraid to explore, fail or do anything that may be uncertain. So I picked a job that was really safe and secure. It had great security and benefits, but it was so far removed from who I was on the inside it was actually painful. Being a highly responsible person, I toughed it out for more than a decade. My body gave me all kinds of signals (like IBS) that it was not working for me, but being a master at pushing through it, I ignored them all.

This constant battle between resisting my current situation and trying to do the “right” thing left me anxious, unhappy and in a nasty pattern of self sabotage. I did lots of work on myself, but it was connecting to my body and emotions that stopped the cycle of resistance I had been living in.

In my coaching practice, I had worked with many clients who were dissatisfied with their careers and experiencing physical stress symptoms. The job itself was not the stressor; it was the disconnection from their body.  When they learned to connect with their inner wisdom they not only felt better, they gained clarity.

On a personal level, the Mind Body tools have given me freedom in my life that I never imagined possible. They have shown me the power of focus and acceptance. . I’ve connected to my body in ways I never could before. I have learned to honor and nurture myself, as well as listen to what my body is telling me. I’ve learned to handle my stress rather than run away from it.

In this process I also have released my self-doubt and gained more confidence, which has lead to many new discoveries and opportunities in my life. I would love to share my combination of coaching tools and personal experience to guide you in claiming your personal power to create the freedom you desire.

Gail Kenny

I came to life coaching through my pelvic pain healing experience with Abigail.  When I found Abigail a few years ago, I had been struggling with chronic pelvic pain (including pain in my lower abdomen, urinary urgency and frequency, yeast infections and myofascial pain) for most of my adult life.  This struggle spanned more than 20 years.  Mind-body coaching was the last piece of the puzzle I needed to truly get my life back and to live it fully again.  I know first-hand the challenges of healing chronic pain and I am well prepared to help you with your healing.  This is healing your body from the inside out and fully compliments other healing methods.  It gets to the core of what is creating your stress in the first place and opens up opportunities for positive change.  Mind-body methods teach you how to receive the messages from your body, emotions, mind and soul, to give you clarity in navigating your life.

I am a certified Martha Beck Life Coach as well as an Endorsed Healthy Life Mind-Body Coach.  Getting coached will progress your healing faster than trying to do it on your own.  It can be challenging to see what your obstacles are when coaching yourself.  Working with a coach will give you the perspective you need to reveal your core issues and to implement changes for healing them.

I bring all my experience to coaching my clients.  I am a nature lover, birder, wife, mom, yogini, hiker, backpacker, cook, healer, spiritual seeker and gardener.  I was a staff member at a public university for over 21 years.  I hold a Bachelor of Science Degree in Wildlife Management.

Linda Bayly-Fennell

I am an Endorsed Healthy Life Mind-Body Coach and a Martha Beck Certified Life Coach. I have a bachelors’ degree in Sociology with a minor in psychology. I’ve always been fascinated by people, societies, and their inner workings. My intention is to be a blessing in the world.

Before entering life coach training I went through several big life transitions. It was an intense roller coaster ride of ups and downs. Getting married, having children and building a new home were joyful things I’d always dreamed of, but they also stirred up limiting beliefs I had about relationships, parenting, housekeeping and life in general. As I grappled with these life transitions I also struggled with the loss of my father. When he died six months after the birth of my first child I was devastated. I tried to put it all in perspective…box it up neatly, put it away, and then move on. Death happens. Who was I to sit and wallow in my grief? I had so many things to be grateful for. I honestly didn’t know how to experience my emotions and keep living at the same time. I became depressed, anxious and suffered from IBS, chronic fatigue and other mysterious aches and pains that doctors and specialists couldn’t explain. My anxiety had completely taken over. I truly believed I was dying from an undiagnosed terminal illness.

In coach training I learned about questioning my thoughts and beliefs. I became more aware of the cues my body was sending me about what felt good or what didn’t. While practicing thought work was helpful, I was still repressing many of my emotions. It wasn’t until I met and worked with Abigail that I started to consistently feel better. I learned that I had a fear of feeling “negative” emotions. I believed happiness and joy were good. I believed they were the only emotions worth having. I thought they signified health and well-being. Sadness was ok (sometimes.) Fear, anxiety, depression, and anger were definitely not good. I tried to avoid and them. My aversion to “negative” emotions and trying to feel happy when I wasn’t created physical tension and pain in my body. I’ve had chronic digestive issues my whole life. As I looked back it all made sense. I noticed as well the connection that every year around the time my father died my symptoms would flare up. Not fully feeling grief around his death and not giving expression to past and current emotions took a toll on my well being.

When I feel pain now, whether it’s physical or emotional, I check in with myself. Am I trying to avoid feeling something? I get still. I tune in. I listen for the wise messages my body, mind, and emotions are trying to convey to me in their own language. The Mind/Body process has helped me to feel resilient, strong, joyful, and truly ‘me’ in a fuller more grounded way then ever before. I no longer believe in the concept of emotions being good or bad. They are helpful information here to inform and guide me toward my truth.

Part of letting my light shine is sharing what I’ve learned with others. If you would like
to learn more about coaching with me and the Mind/Body process please feel free to send
me an email at Linda@thehealthylifecoach.com.

Jessica Vazquez

Jessica

During 13 years I successfully climbed the ladder of corporate world. I majored in marketing, earned an MBA, and worked with several Fortune 500 companies (in both functional and dysfunctional teams).  I complemented my life instruction in Switzerland, Spain and Peru.  I was an overachiever; I collected titles, job assignments, and great yearly performance reviews.  I also collected several back contractures, a lot of pain, a facial paralysis, several tumors, and was more than 60 pounds overweight.  I lived with constant attacks of worry and anxiety.  I even got hypothyroidism; I was in a total down whirl spiral.

I discovered coaching, and there I started a new growth path.  After becoming Neuro-linguistic Master Practitioner, and a Certified Coach with International Coaching Community, I knew the extra weight I carried was a sign that something needed my proper attention.  I knew I overate in order to avoid unpleasant feelings.  I knew worrying was my coping mechanism.  I was eating instead of addressing my emotions, but didn’t know how to cope with them.  It was thru the Healthy Mind and Body Coach training that I learned how.

I understand the positive intention of the extra weight in my life.  I learned everything is about alignment. I started to lose weight when I aligned my body, mind, emotions and soul to the same objective.  I tune in with my body, and learned its marvelous language.  I get to know how to feel the emotions in my body.  I learned there are no “negative” emotions, and that even resistance has a positive intention.  I made peace with my body and with food.

My coaching practice just bloomed when I started to be totally honest with my intention.  I work with professional and smart women whose only success left is to achieve a healthy weight.  I would love to teach you how to become the CEO (Chief Enjoyment Officer) of your own life.

I adore to learn and I’ve also been trained as a Weight Coach with Brooke Castillo and as a Career Invention Coach with Pamela Slim and Michele Woodward. Besides, I earned my certification as a Soul Coach with Denise Linn at SummerHill Ranch.

Simone Goudreau

I found my way to Abigail and her Mind-Body magic at the perfect time in my life.  I had been trained to coach by Martha Beck, and I believed her when she said that if I just listened to my body, it would help me create a delicious life. I knew she was on to something with this whole “body compass” thing, but I just couldn’t figure out, for the life of me, how to interpret what mine was saying!

I wasn’t having much success helping my clients read their body compasses either.  I work with women who have a difficult relationship with food and their bodies, so the concept of connecting to their bodies was foreign for them too.  I started to get an inkling of how to reconnect when I did Weight Coach training with Brooke Castillo.  She taught me how to tune in to my hunger signals. My clients and I did some great work together thanks to Brooke’s tools.  But, I sensed there was something more I wasn’t understanding about this body-connection thing, and without this piece in place, I was feeling stuck.

So, I continued my quest – both personal and professional – to find some answers.  I did some training with the authors of the book “Intuitive Eating” and became a certified Intuitive Eating counselor.  More pieces of the puzzle started to fall into place for me.  I learned that before I could really listen to my body, we (meaning my body & I) needed to learn to trust each other again.  I finally understood that the reason I felt so compulsive around food was because I was depriving myself of the enjoyment of eating.  I learned to let go of all of my rules, and give myself unconditional permission to eat what I wanted, without guilt.  My body relaxed and I relaxed about my body.

This body-whispering thing was starting to click!  The more I trusted my body to guide me, the more peace I felt with food, my appearance, and my life in general.  This was miraculous to me, after years and years of being at war with my body and with myself.  I wanted to learn more so that I could teach others how to find peace too.  This is what led me to Abigail.  I started to read her blog and listen to her jam-packed telecourses.  I dove into her Healthy Mind Toolbox and learned about how we disconnect from our bodies because we are not able to tolerate the discomfort we feel – whether it’s emotional, physical or mental discomfort.

I took Abigail’s Mind-Body Coach training, because I couldn’t help but see the parallels between her clients with chronic pain and my clients who struggle with eating and their weight.  Pain, compulsive eating, extra weight – whatever feels intolerable– is just the signal telling us that we are not connected to our soul.  If we learn to allow this signal to be there, and get really curious about it, our greatest struggle becomes our greatest gift, helping us to create our most delicious life.

Kate Lundberg

I’m a Certified Martha Beck Coach and an Endorsed Healthy Life Mind Body Coach.  I’ve been trained as a Weight Loss Coach by Brooke Castillo.

I’m also a shining example of a smart woman who was out of touch with her body for many years, and had not a clue that this was true.  The disconnection was likely caused by some early childhood traumas.  It manifested in various ways…….low level depression, fatigue, an inability to handle stress well, and an ever-changing array of body-based symptoms that would show up on a moment’s notice.  I was also in chronic pain from migraine headaches, which I experienced for over 30 years.

If you are here reading this, you are probably struggling with your own health in some way, and are starting to realize the power of the mind/body connection.  Getting in touch with your body and starting to heal from the inside out is an amazing process.  It can change your life in ways you never expected.  Yes, it can heal chronic pain (my migraines rarely show up any more), and help you with weight loss and other body issues……all very important results.  Beyond that, learning to read your wise body’s signals; allowing your emotions to flow freely; and making peace with your well-meaning mind’s chatter, can also create so much more.  It can begin to connect you with your Inner Wisdom and your Soul’s deepest desires.  It can help you create the life you’ve always been meant to live.

The mind/body process is not a linear process, though.  In fact, it can be quite messy and discouraging at times.  It’s not instant magic, but more like gradually glimmering joy and peace.  Having a compassionate, knowledgeable coach along for this journey really helps facilitate this process.  If you would like to explore the possibility of coaching with me, or learn more about me as a coach, you can find me at  www.katelundbergcoaching.com or contact me at  kate@thehealthylifecoach.com
